Lesson #12 Sunscreen . . . must reapply . . .

     Sunscreen. It kind of goes without saying. Well, our first weekend of freedom in Rome, we went to the beach! It was another one of those days where we were somehow unable to find anything. A 40 minute train ride to the beach turned into a 4 hour excursion with 7 people helping guide us along the way . . . When we finally made it to the beach, we were extremely proud of ourselves! We felt like real Italians, until we saw that we stuck out like a sore thumb. We are white. Very, very white. Italians are dark. You could peg us as tourists from a mile away . . .


     Well, our white skin might have made this a simple calculation, but the Italian sun is hot, and our sunscreen was applied at least 4 hours before, so we should have known. A killer sunburn in Italy is not exactly a lot of fun . . .

     Lesson #12: Sunscreen is an amazing invention. It is meant to be used, and reapplied multiple times . . .
